When I Grow Up

Children’s Birthday Parties

At the Angel Centre, Tonbridge
I’ve held four children’s birthday parties (not that many kids – 2 last year; 2 this year!) at the Angel Centre in Tonbridge now, and they have all been a great success. But the best thing about them that I want to say is, how fantastically good value they are. Many parties that my kids have been invited to, usually involve the hiring of a hall – about £40-£50 and an entertainer – £80 approx for 1 hour and more if you want them to stay the whole party. The Angel Centre now provide several different parties that last 1 hour. A single trampoline party costs £27.50; a football or a games party or sports party cost only £35; a pre-school bounce costs £40 and a bounce party for up to 7yrs, or double trampoline cost £50. After that you can hire a large room for the party food for £15.
I think this is pretty good; especially when all of the other halls in Tonbridge provide the kids with filthy feet from running around bare-footed on the floor, and a couple always stink of smoke. The Angel Centre is clean; clean toilets are just opposite the sports halls, and there’ll be a member of staff nearby with first aid training. When one of the kids last year got a bump on the head, she was dealt with quickly; given a cold compress and looked after.
Last year I had a games party for Jude who was turning 5, though most of the kids were still 4. I was worried that they wouldn’t pay attention and just run around, but the member of staff kept them entertained with a selection of games suitable for that age-group. This year she had a bounce party and for that we had 1 supervised trampoline, 1 large bouncy castle (with bits to climb on inside) and a large matted area covered in soft play things and slides. It was perfect to keep 20 kids busy.
Rain (who’s now 9) has now had 2 double trampoline parties, and although you’re not guaranteed it, both times we’ve had something extra, other than just the 2 supervised trampolines that you’re paying for. Last year there were loads of roller-skates; a couple of basketballs and a hoop, and a bouncy castle. This year the same Bounce things that Jude had were out, along with the bouncy castle, with the understanding that it was our own responsibility.
I would highly recommend having your child’s birthday party here if you live in the area. The staff are polite and friendly; you’re allowed in your room beforehand to decorate and set out the food; and best of all, it’s easy! By time they’ve finished eating, you’ve literally got time to sing happy birthday, play pass the parcel, and then it’s time to go home. Enjoyable and hassle-free. Perfect!
