Well you’ve got to watch it haven’t you! We’re all desperate for something new and exciting, but it doesn’t entirely live up to the comparisons to Sex in the City, which really was new and exciting. The first episode I loved – I couldn’t believe it – are Americans really taking the piss out of themselves? There was also the rude bits and the funny bits and the touch of suspense because something mysterious was going on. And I recommended it to everyone I know who hadn’t seen it. (My sister-in-law).
But the 2nd episode was a bit disappointing. But it picked up again this week and I am actually looking forward to the next one.
If you haven’t seen it yet, then it’s in Neighbours Style – all set in one lovely shiny new set, which looks like a street, but too shiny. The woman – all desperate housewives (all desperate for various reasons) – get together every now and then to chat, but it doesn’t get anywhere near as rude as the SATC girls. But then it couldn’t anyway as that would be too copy-cat-ish. It is narrated and told by one of the wives, who killed herself, and gradually the mystery as to why is being unravelled.
In the side-lines, one of them fancies the new guy who moved in opposite (who has a gun and a map with info on all of them taped inside his cupboard); one of them can’t cope with her energetic kids, one of them is in marriage guidance counselling because she’s turned into an obsessed perfect housewife, and one of them is shagging her gardener.
Not as much sex as we were led to believe, but never-the-less, a very good fun program to watch in the evening.
