I confess, I fell asleep about three quarters of the way in to this film, but I gather from the kids that it has a happy ending. None-the-less, it does show that it wasn’t exactly and interesting film to watch. From the makers of Finding Nemo, I was expecting more of the humour – which I loved in that film – but this obviously had a different script writer, as there were only a few moments where I smiled, let alone laughed. It was far too serious for my liking, and my 6 year old soon got restless. Older boys with an interest in robots or inventing things will like it though.
The story wasn’t exactly original either, and transposing it onto robots didn’t disguise that fact. A boy from a poor family, given hand-me-downs all his life goes off to seek his fortune in the city with an idea of an invention to sell. Things don’t go as expected; riches don’t come easily his way, and you can probably guess the rest.
Although, girls will probably think Robots is ok, this is definitely one for the boys, and that’s good news for parents who have no shortage of choice with all the Barbie and Disney Princess films.
Overall, it’s an average, ok kind of film.
