It was a Thursday evening and there was only us and an elderly couple eating at The Plough throughout the whole evening. Perhaps it was more quiet than normal because it was election day. Anyway, it is a lovely looking pub and restaurant and we could have chosen to sit by the log fire or in the conservatory, so we went in the conservatory where we could see all the flowers outside. I loved the extra touches like the fact that the flowers in the vases were real, and there were burning candles all round the room; it was really pretty.
The menu had a good selection to choose from; though Chris’s steak portion was a bit small. I had duck in a plum sauce and it was delicious – I really enjoyed it. It is not a family restaurant though – there was no kid’s menu. Though they were given a generous portion of Sausages and mash from the lunch menu and only charged half price for it. There’s also no playground or garden to play in or anything like that.
It also turned out to be quite pricy. Although my duck was £10, which was quite reasonable, I had to pay an extra £1.50 for the vegetables (bit of a cheek I think) and the puddings were £4.50 each – not even a cheaper price for the ice-cream option. But if you’ve got the money to spend, for adults this would be a very nice place to eat.
