When I Grow Up

Padstow

A small fishing village in North Cornwall. I have been to Cornwall on holiday about 16 times and I always visit a town called Padstow while I’m there.

This is such a nice village, I would definitely recommend a visit whilst you’re on holiday in Cornwall. It’s one of those places that have a really strange mix of people. There are the rich posh people who are there for that fish restaurant run by that famous TV chef guy (typically can’t remember his name now); the middle/upper class families visiting, and a bunch of hippies plaiting people’s hair by the side of the harbour!

It also seems to be an unusual place to find the best clothes ever! If I didn’t want to go to Newquay because it was too crowded with chavvy tourists, I would choose Padstow to go shopping rather than Truro. Up the little narrow streets there are several shops full of cool surfy clothes, and if you go up a small hill bit there’s a group of four shops where there’s a couple of hippy shops too. There are also several of the kind of shops you expect of a seaside town that are for families on holiday that are full of souvinears and nick-nacks and surprisingly these are incredibly cheap. If you want to kit up with the full sea-side works – fishing nets, body boards, blow-up dolphins and rubber rings, and buckets and spades etc. this is the cheapest place in the whole of Cornwall I am sure!! We’ve often come away from Padstow with several bags. There’s also a gorgeous fudge shop which I must find the name of to tell you.
