When I Grow Up

Sealing the floor

Rustic Kitchen renovation

After reading all about the different types of sealant on the internet and the best advice for terracotta tiles, I decided to go for the only  kind they sell in the local Focus. This is Q EP Tile Sealer.

I had to seal the floor before we went on holiday due to the influx in the house of young children and yappy dogs with continence problems while we were away. I wish I had done it differently though. I rubbed it on with many cloths that I cut from old tracksuit trousers, which did have the benefit of cleaning them at the same time as I was rubbing. To be honest, this was probably the best way, but it took so long! I didn’t have time to do a second coat before we left, which is a shame. The cloth didn’t get into the joins, but a brush would have done, but by the time we got back, all the joins were full of animal hair and dirt that wouldn’t even come out with a hoover nozzle.

I’ve decided to save the second coat of sealant until I’ve done the grout.
