I can’t get the theme tune to Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds out of my head now – and that rather dates my childhood doesn’t it. Most of you won’t know what I’m going on about. Anyway, this is my review of the latest The Three Musketeers film…
I absolutely loved it! This will no doubt be my favourite film of 2012 (until The Hobbit right at the end.) If you like Pirates of the Caribbean, then you’ll probably like this too as I’m pretty sure it was heavily influenced by it. It’s a fast-paced action adventure with a smattering of humour and romance thrown in; not to mention fabulous costumes. I want to own every single one of Milla Jovovich – playing Milady – ‘s costumes. They are amazing and Milla did what she does best, adding a touch of glamour and a heavy dose of kick-ass-ness. The three musketeers were rather enjoyable to look at too!
Apart from D’Artagnan and Milady, the cast was largely British with many familiar faces including James Corden playing a hard-done-by servant and Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham. The sets were lavish, the special effects were outlandish and the fight scenes were Pirates of the Caribbean-ish. With airships and clockwork gadgets, it was quite steampunk too. I can’t wait to watch it again!
