This month is pretty much all about my daughter’s eighteenth birthday. At the weekend, we travelled back to our home town of Tonbridge in Kent to stay with my parents and see all the family to celebrate. I dithered for ages about what to wear, but in the end, decided on this purple and teal outfit. Now I’ve put these colours together, I’m deliberately going to seek them out again as I think they look fabulous together, and quite nice for this transitioning time of year too….
The purple top is an old one from New Look. To be honest, I’m not overly keen on the shape of this jersey top, and it would normally be used for a warmth layer under a jumper in winter, but I really did think the colour was perfect. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a smarter blouse-style top in a similar shade of purple.
The skirt was from the bargain crate at the Bohemia stall at Glastonbury Festival. This used to be my go-to stall to pick up a few items every year – I think they brought all their sample pieces or slight seconds so the prices were much reduced from the usual shop prices. They’d also have a £5 crate at the front, which is where I picked this skirt up from. You’d have to be careful with those things though, as you’d sometimes get them home and find the zip didn’t work or there was a stain on the back you hadn’t noticed before. Well luckily, the zip was fine on this skirt, but the lower half had lost it pleats and were all crumpled. The day we left for Jude’s family birthday party I did my best to iron back in the pleats and it took me hours! There is obviously some more work to do on this. Also when I was ironing, I noticed that there is some discolouration in places, but there is so much fabric, it doesn’t really notice.
(Sadly, the Bohemia stall hasn’t been at Glastonbury for the last couple of years. I’m ever hopeful it will come back.)
The comfy sandals (which you’ve probably seen in a few posts now) are from Clarks and I thought the red leaf design was perfect for the beginning of autumn. The bejewelled chunky bracelet was a birthday present from my Uncle Paul and Aunty Pat, so I don’t know where it came from. Again, the colours were spot on.
