Cath Kidston gift ideas for Mothers’ Day

cath kidston beauty review

I was given this beautiful set of Cath Kidston hand creams and a lip balm for my birthday last year, and it occurred to me what a lovely gift anything by Cath Kidston would be for Mothering Sunday. Her products combine the two things that make the perfect present – something pretty and something practical….

The packaging for Cath Kidston products is just beautiful, and I’m sure that’s what you’re mostly paying for! However, we’re all a sucker for pretty packaging and I’m no different. Lovely things make me happy, and when I get out my Cath Kidston hand cream from my bag I always smile! I’ve been impressed with the formula; it sinks into my skin perfectly without being at all sticky, and leaves my hands feeling very soft. The little tubes of hand cream I received are also the perfect size for carrying in your handbag, and I haven’t run out yet! The only thing that I think is a shame is that all three in the box are the same scent – it would have been nice to try a variety, but never mind. The ‘Patchouli Mint’ scent is unusual for a hand cream, but I like it. It reminds me of summer visits to National Trust properties when you run your hand over the herbs growing in the kitchen gardens!

There are a few different designs available in Boots and they are three for the price of two:

The lip balm, I’ll be honest I was less impressed with. Yes it’s pretty, but as I’m a stickler for trying to keep away from germs while I’m out and about, I don’t keep in my bag the type of lip balms you put your finger into. Instead, this sits on my desk where I know I’ve got clean hands! To me it’s exactly like the blue tins of vaseline I used to take to school as my lip balm. It looks quite shiny, and feels a little sticky on my lips, but it does feel like it lasts longer than my chapstick in terms of protecting against dryness.

If your budget reaches a little further and you really want to treat your Mum on Mothering Sunday, then I’m sure a Cath Kidston bag would always be appreciated. I’ve never owned one myself, but when in the market for a bag, I looked at a couple of my friends’ ones, and I was impressed with the quality. And of course, the designs are just lovely!

Here are some from House of Fraser:

Unfortunately our house is still far too cold to invite family to stay in March, so it’s usually a long telephone call to our mothers on Mothering Sunday. However my daughters are kind and look after me, and I get to choose what film we watch in the evening! Will you be celebrating Mothers’ Day? Let me know if you have any lovely plans.
