When I Grow Up

Weekly Wardrobe – USA road trip

Fashion blog

Well I’m on the last road trip section of the holiday and catching up from home now. I hadn’t expected such difficult internet conditions so I’m afraid this is a few days late and now you’ll probably get several posts close together!  This weekly wardrobe is a bit jumbled as the first outfit pictures were previously unfound. It would have been lovely to get some pictures in the French Quarter at New Orleans, but we were just so busy while we there, we didn’t have time. So then we have a couple more outfits as we travelled towards Orlando….

Pink & orange outfit

Style in Washington

This outfit got missed earlier on somehow, so these photos were taken back when we were in Washington in a small park area near the White House. The blush pink top is from New Look and bought the day before the holiday, so is probably still in the shops if you like it. I found it here online for just £4!
The skirt is also from New Look but is several years old now. The nearest I could find is this one:

Peachy orange are not usually my colours so this skirt only gets worn on holidays! I’m glad I found this vest top to go with it though as the outfit looks a lot better with them together. I like the interesting shape of the back, but I’m not convinced about the obvious bra straps – strapless bras are too uncomfortable for a day sight-seeing.

Sunset at the beach

A little silhouetted against the beautiful sunset, I’m wearing a pale blue long tunic vest top from H&M. I bought it in April, and knowing how fast their turnarounds are, I doubt it’s still in the shops, but you could give it a go if you like it. The black bloomers are from a stall called Save The Pixies at Glastonbury Festival. After leaving New Orleans we ended up on this beach at Pensacola in Florida just after the sun had set, and the colours just got better and better.

A bit tired and sweaty!

We’d intended to take the day’s Weekly Wardrobe pictures earlier in the day, but it was just too hot to stand about, so in the evening we pretended to just need the loo at Manatee Springs somewhere in Florida so we didn’t have to pay the park entrance fee as they were still asking for the full price an hour before it closed! Anyway, we were given fifteen minutes to drive down to the car park and get back to the entrance again so we ran over to the water’s edge to quickly take these photos. If we’d known it was so beautiful there, we would’ve happily paid the fee and hung around for a bit longer. Oh well.
I didn’t realise I had so many clothes from New Look. This is another top from there – several years old now and on its last legs as it’s quite bobbly. I bought the denim shorts last year from Tescos.

The shoes in all of these pictures are Karrimor, bought from Sports Direct. Comfy walking sandals are the only thing for this type of holiday!
