My strange relationship with fashion

You may have noticed that my blog has been gradually overhauled and updated in the last few months (and still is – new logo coming soon!), and yet I haven’t gone with the same fashionable layout as most top bloggers at the moment – you know the kind – the picture that doesn’t scroll with your mouse, and the blocks of pictures. There is no doubt that this style looks beautiful, but I personally find it confusing. I like a blog that has clear categories that are easy to find, as well as a way of reading everything in order with the most recent post first. I hope I’m doing the right thing (I have already been complimented on the clear layout), but I’ve decided to keep my blog unfashionable, but in a way that suits me. My fashion sense with clothes works in a similar way……

Weekly Wardrobe – styling an embroidered top

Not Dressed As LambI know it makes no sense weather-wise, but just as much as I like the look of a vest top with trousers, I like a long-sleeved top with shorts! When I found out this week’s theme from Not Dressed As Lamb was embroidery, I thought I’d have no problem finding items to go with it in my wardrobe – I work all the time with stunning embroidered fabric from India, so I see it often, but it turns out this one blue shirt is the only item I own myself. So to give you a little variety, I styled it up twice….

Weekly Wardrobe – USA road trip

Well I’m on the last road trip section of the holiday and catching up from home now. I hadn’t expected such difficult internet conditions so I’m afraid this is a few days late and now you’ll probably get several posts close together!  This weekly wardrobe is a bit jumbled as the first outfit pictures were previously unfound. It would have been lovely to get some pictures in the French Quarter at New Orleans, but we were just so busy while we there, we didn’t have time. So then we have a couple more outfits as we travelled towards Orlando….

Weekly Wardrobe – USA road trip

Well I last left you in Washington DC (having taken a train from New York) looking round all the wonderful museums and galleries, which, by the way are absolutely free to visit. Since then we hired a car and journeyed to Nashville, Memphis and now we’ve made it all the way down to New Orleans where the hotel we’re currently in seems to having working wifi (as long as not too many people play Pokemon Go at the same time). So here’s my weekly wardrobe post (just a day late) though I haven’t got much time so there aren’t any links I’m afraid….

Weekly Wardrobe – New York & Washington

I’m currently on holiday. Yay! Chris, Rain, Jude and I began in New York and are currently in Washington DC. So instead of Somerset farmland in the background, it’ll be nice to have a change of scenery for these style inspiration posts. Please forgive my lack of words and links – I thought this was going to go live 3 days ago, but the internet here disagrees.
(Ps. Now I’m home I’ve added some more info.)

Weekly Wardrobe – A pop of colour

This week’s theme at NotDressedAsLamb for #IwillWearWhatILike was a little easier for me to follow, as I do have a few items of brightly coloured clothing, thoughNot Dressed As Lamb when it came to looking at my wardrobe(s), not as many as I thought. Last week was pretty uneventful for me, as I’ve still been sewing away at the Bottle Bags and Cup Carriers for Glastonbury Festival – it was quite a relief when I handed them all in a couple of days ago. So the clothing I’ve included in this post is not for any particular occasion….

Weekly Wardrobe

Not Dressed As LambWith a rare forecast of three days in a row without rain, I decided to set myself up with my sewing machine outside, where I can look up and see Glastonbury Festival being put together in the fields nearby. In a couple of weeks time, the cup carriers and bottle bags I’m making will be for sale there at Water Aid stalls. Anyway, my outfits this week were mainly based around comfort! The link-up with NotDressedAsLamb involved tote bags this week. Well, the only time I actually went out and needed a bag, was to choir, as I needed something that day to carry my folder of music….

Weekly Wardrobe – pastels

Hello folks! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. I’m starting a new regular thingumajig on here, which, as you can see, I’m calling ‘Weekly Wardrobe.’ In view of style and fashion being a frequent theme to my posts, I thought Why not share what I’m wearing? I was unsure at first, feeling it’s a little, well, self-important of me to think people will be interested, but let’s face it, in this day in age when tonnes of people are sharing their outfits on the internet, I think I’d like to join in! My fashion taste is a little random; sometimes hippy, ’50s, steampunk or lagenlook, but I like to think a little bit quirky. I’m a hoarder and rarely buy items brand new, so I’m afraid I’m not much good for ideas for you to exactly copy, but maybe offer style inspiration.
I’m also going to be linking up with the fabulous Catherine Summers at NotDressedAsLamb and following her weekly themes for #iwillwearwhatIlike in rallying against the list some questionable journalist thinks people over thirty should stop wearing….
