When I Grow Up

Weekly Wardrobe – Sandals in the Sand

This week’s photos come to you from Holywell Bay in Cornwall. Chris and I took a few days to travel around our favourite county in the campervan for a bit of a photography holiday. We arrived at 6:30pm with a light drizzle, but a gorgeous warm evening light, so we drove straight to the National Trust beach for the Weekly Wardrobe. This week’s theme from Not Dressed As Lamb is sandals….

This is one of my favourite dresses and is from Bedlam Boutique in Glastonbury. I just feel very pretty wearing it! The woollen shawl is Joe Browns and I can’t for the life of me remember where I got the delicate scarf. The sandals are Clarks and are very comfy and squishy underfoot and I love the leaf design.

I was amazed at the difference in temperature in Cornwall, from the hot sunny days to the cooler evenings and freezing nights! It’s almost impossible to wear one outfit the whole day. So I started off with this summer maxi dress in tones to match the sand (totally intentional – honestly); then kept in my bag the lightweight shawl that just gives that little bit extra warmth when the sun almost meets the sea. Then later on, I really did need to wrap up in the snuggly wool shawl – the wind picked up while walking along the cliffs and it was rather chilly indeed! It meant I was able to keep the dress on all day long rather than change to some boring practical outfit for the sake of the temperature.

I hope this post will give you ideas on how you can style a maxi dress and layer it up for cooler evenings or for autumn.
