At Uxford Field, behind Tescos, 15th July 2006
I’ve just got back, but it carries on till midnight, so get yourself down there – there’s still time! I think it’s fantastic that a group of young people have put together a free festival and today it really did have the perfect summer vibe. Just the fact that it was totally free was amazing – I really do hope the group called The Young Ones continue this year after year.
There was a small stage for the bands – and the ones I heard were pretty good (especially Chia Chia), another set up at the back of the field which I think was being called the acoustic tent, and if I’m honest, there wasn’t a lot else. I’m surprised there weren’t more craft stalls, as that was what I mainly went for – I doubt the pitches cost too much so I thought it would be perfect. I bought a lovely Perusian necklace for only £4 – bargain! (So craft stall holders – sort it out for next year!)
There were a couple of chill out tents – the Sky tent being full of cushions and mattresses and a bunch of teenagers rolling all over them! An African themed tent, and African food. The best place for kids was at the top of the field at the Art tent – full of crafty things that my kids loved – especially decorating cakes.
But mainly it was a really chilled out atmosphere and the place was full of cool and beautiful people.
