Ella Enchanted

Directed by Tommy O’Haver; from a novel written by Gail Carsen Levine. Starring Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries), Hugh Dancy (King Arthur), Cary Elwes, Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting). Narrated by Eric Idle (Monty Python) and the voice of Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge).
I watched this with my daughters and we loved it. It’s a spin-off of Cinderella, but don’t let that make you think you know the plot. Ella under a spell of obedience, but things get complicated when she falls in love with Prince Char. It’s also not quite the fairy godmother you’d expect. This is a brilliant adaptation of a fairy tale, brought up to date with modern humour and I would definitely recommend this to all girls.

However, each spring has come along and we’ve ended up spending any spare money we’ve had on a holiday instead. So it hasn’t happened, but the idea was still there, and it made a choice on the garden furniture difficult to make…..
3 days in Oxford – Day 1. The story of the photographs
September 16, 2016
I was so excited about this little mini-break to Oxford. I love my family to bits, but sometimes it’s nice to be alone and have a little headspace all to yourself! I also find it difficult to relax at home because there’s always so much to do there. I don’t think it helps that I work from home either, so no matter if it’s the evening or weekend, I still always feel I should either be working or doing something towards fixing the house. I was also a little bit nervous because I’m not great at driving and get flustered easily, but the journey was good; I didn’t get lost once and made it to the park and ride with no problems following the sat nav!….
