Gothic and Alternative clothing
I’ve got a fair bit to say about this website. First of all, the website itself is good – well laid out, well styled, there’s a sizing chart etc and above all, the clothes are good value for money. Nice-looking goth clothes are quite hard to come by, and this website sells them at a lower price to the others that I found.
However, their customer service is completely and absolutely terrible! My husband ordered the Enchantress Dress for me, and two girl’s medieval dresses for our daughters, four weeks before Christmas, thinking they should easily get to us in time. Shall I tell you when I got mine? Two weeks ago! Shall I tell you when the kids ones came? Last week! And they were the wrong ones!!! This is terrible!! They never answer the phone number that we had, and I left about 6 messages on the machine (they did get them because their message changed). They also never responded to the several e-mails we sent them; and even ignored us cancelling the order, and sending the items anyway. It was absolutely ridiculous. They were able to take the money from the credit card immediately though.
Coincidentally a friend of ours also ordered from them and had to wait months for her dress, and then it didn’t fit so she sent it back. (Don’t know yet how easily she got her money back).
I’m annoyed because they must rely on the fact that most people won’t bother sending the items back because of all the fuss, and that’s exactly what I’m doing too. Our daughters love their new dresses, which we gave in and let them have, despite not being the ones we ordered. And my dress is lovely. The quality isn’t amazing, but perfectly acceptable. But I wouldn’t recommend buying from this website if you want a smooth transaction.

Weekly Wardrobe – Christmas Party
January 9, 2017
I’m back with my regular Weekly Wardrobe feature, in the outfit I wore for our village Writers’ Group Christmas party. It was far too late in the day for photos outside, so we rigged up this handmade background (more on that another day) and a studio flash set-up. It was a pretty muddy day, so I only have socks on as I wore wellies to walk to and back from the party, and just had socks on while I was there as I knew it would just be sitting round a table and no-one would see my feet anyway! I couldn’t think of any stand-in party shoes at the last minute, so here I am, authentically in my socks!

A boho dress for a boho lifestyle
April 5, 2018
I am often at my happiest when Chris, (and in the past when they were smaller, the kids as well) and I go off on a road-trip in the camper. We’ve had a few vans over the years, changing the size of them to suit our family, and now that Rain and Jude have had enough of the cramped sleeping conditions and the dog snoring in their ears, we downsized to a Type 25 VW camper van a couple of years ago for just the two of us. When I’m gathering the clothes to take with me on these trips, I tend to choose the more bohemian items from my wardrobe.  Apart from at Wilderness festival, can you think of a more fitting time to wear clothes like this dress? With its flowing fabric and button-up style, this maxi dress has a gorgeous print inspired by far-flung lands and evokes a feeling of summer travels….
My strange relationship with fashion
September 23, 2016
You may have noticed that my blog has been gradually overhauled and updated in the last few months (and still is – new logo coming soon!), and yet I haven’t gone with the same fashionable layout as most top bloggers at the moment – you know the kind – the picture that doesn’t scroll with your mouse, and the blocks of pictures. There is no doubt that this style looks beautiful, but I personally find it confusing. I like a blog that has clear categories that are easy to find, as well as a way of reading everything in order with the most recent post first. I hope I’m doing the right thing (I have already been complimented on the clear layout), but I’ve decided to keep my blog unfashionable, but in a way that suits me. My fashion sense with clothes works in a similar way……
A capsule wardrobe
Is a capsule wardrobe the right way to go? I tried it for a month to find out.
February 13, 2018
There are several YouTubers and bloggers I follow who live by a capsule wardrobe. They don’t just live by it; they fully recommend it, citing how wonderful it is to know they can get out of bed in the morning and easily choose an outfit that will colour co-ordinate and work for them. I have been fascinated by this, but to be honest, I’ve always thought it wasn’t really for me, I mean, if you want to see the state of my wardrobe/dressing room, then take a look at the tour coming soon to my YouTube channel! However, for four weeks at the beginning of the year, I went to stay in America (accompanying Chris on a work trip) so I really didn’t have a choice as everything I wore for a month had to fit in my suitcase. I’m currently typing this on the plane coming home and I thought I would share how I got on with my experiment with a capsule wardrobe….
