I went on Tuesday 7th December.
I have to say things didn’t look promising when I turned up for the other half’s Office Christmas Do this year. Things aren’t exactly going well for the company right now, and as I walked in the atmosphere was seriously choking. So I have to say The Comedy Store is a pretty good idea because at least you don’t have to make small talk while watching a show. It may also cheer people up a bit. And, to be completely truthful; it worked!
The food there isn’t what you want to go for really. There are a couple of tables, but not enough for everyone to sit at, so you balance your burger and chips and drink on your lap in the rows of seats facing the stage. I don’t know how much it cost (thanks to the kind boss man ;o) but it seemed pretty reasonable food really. Though there wasn’t enough mayonnaise in my chicken burger.
Anyway – onto the show: It was brilliant! They said as it was a Christmas occasion, they were doing things a bit differently and the audience shouted out various news topics they had to make jokes about. They also did games like one guy has to follow on from the other and any hesitations they’re off the stage. The names of the guys were: Andy Parsons, Paul Thorne, Steve Gribbin and Ian Stone. There were a couple of others but I couldn’t find their photos on the website to find their names. Steve Gribbin was the only one who I didn’t find particularly funny – especially when he got up with his guitar. But for 90% of the time, I was really laughing and it was a really good night out. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
My only word of caution – don’t go if you’re worried about passive smoking – my eyes were watering from all the smoke in the room.
