Upcycling Indian Clothes

Just a quick post to urge you to take a look at Tara’s blog, Crowd Capture. She’s kindly written a lovely article about how I use traditional Indian clothing and turn them into new dresses and outfits. She’s also a big fan of revamping clothes, so have a read-through and maybe you’ll be inspired to have a go!

Weekly wardrobe – gothic circus look for a beach walk!
October 10, 2016
Rain chose a walk on the beach as her family activity for her birthday, so yesterday afternoon we drove over to Brean and parked up past all the tacky arcades to as near to the cliff as you can get. It’s a handy carpark with a National Trust shop, cafe, and (most importantly) loos. Sunny and hot one minute and cloudy with a chilly wind the next, it was difficult to know what to wear. I opted for layers with a steampunk circusy vibe; and why not? ….

Styling a Pink Maxi Dress and Going all Jane Austen!
October 12, 2018
I’m not quite sure where the idea originally came from – it was probably just a few influences that all came together. Then we happened to need to go to Bath for Chris to have his computer fixed at the Apple shop; and then I think I was inspired by the bookstagrammers of Instagram to borrow a copy of Northanger Abbey. And lo and behold, we have this fashion blog photo shoot….
Weekly Wardrobe – A pop of colour
June 23, 2016
This week’s theme at NotDressedAsLamb for #IwillWearWhatILike was a little easier for me to follow, as I do have a few items of brightly coloured clothing, though when it came to looking at my wardrobe(s), not as many as I thought. Last week was pretty uneventful for me, as I’ve still been sewing away at the Bottle Bags and Cup Carriers for Glastonbury Festival – it was quite a relief when I handed them all in a couple of days ago. So the clothing I’ve included in this post is not for any particular occasion….

Oshun – the story of my clothing brand, and the yellow dress inspired by Beyonce’s in Lemonade
May 13, 2016
I still have the notebook in which I brain-stormed possible names for my clothing business sixteen years ago! I was particularly interested in goddesses at that time and wrote several down, but the name Oshun resonated. When I found out more about her, she seemed perfect to name my brand after. She is a water goddess of love; a deity of the Yoruba people of West Africa and is associated with femininity, sensuality and the power of women. She has come into the news lately because there are rumours that Beyonce wore a dress in Lemonade which specifically represented her….
