Living with builders

The progress so far, and how I’m coping.

It’s weird when the builders are here. I suppose it’s obvious that I can’t carry on as cimg0312normal, but there are little things that are disturbing my life as well as the dust and the constant banging. My morning routine has changed as I have to get dressed first, instead of making the packed lunches in my dressing gown in case they come early. I can’t do my workout videos in the living room in case one of them sees me. I can’t sit on the settee and watch telly in an extended lunch break in case they think I’m lazy. And despite their typical builder’s attire, I’ve found myself staying in the clothes I wear on the school run, instead of changing into my baggy saggy round-the-house clothes during the day! Worst of all, I can’t talk to myself like I normally do in case they think I’m crazy!

Birthday dinner at The Kingsdon Inn, nr Somerton, Somerset
May 9, 2016
It was my birthday! And what better way to celebrate than going out and have someone else cook for you. And clear away. Yeeees! I absolutely love eating out. It’s just such a pity that one meal out for the four of us costs about the same as our weekly shop from Tescos. But you see, (as I sometimes remember to remind myself) if you did it every day, it wouldn’t be special, would it? My lovely daughter, Rain did the research, and hunted out all restaurants within a reasonable distance that served Duck, being that duck is my favourite meal. The Kingsdon Inn came up as one of the top twenty restaurants in Somerset, and when my husband phoned to check food serving hours, it turned out you need to book well in advance if you want a table. We were lucky and got the second-to-last one; which is not what you’d expect for somewhere truly out in the sticks….
My Cornwall photo on canvas! Printed by Printerpix
October 6, 2016
Chris and I are very fussy about art for our walls, and we don’t always have the same taste. We compromise by never ending up getting anything! However, when the opportunity came up to have one of my photographs blown up and printed onto canvas, I was really excited by it. I have a massive 60% discount code at Printerpix for you at the end of this post. I chose a picture I took during our recent campervan trip to Cornwall. The old disused mine is easy to find on the North coast road near Morvah. It’s a popular spot for rock-climbers and hundreds passed us on the footpath towards the cliffs, lugging their gear with them. It was fairly early in the morning when we went photo-spotting, and I turned away from the sea and looked back at this ruined mine building….
Review of the L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara
February 15, 2017
On holiday in America in 2015 I bought the L’Oreal Beauty Tubes mascara. This was amazing, but when I went back last year, I couldn’t find it again. Instead, L’Oreal had this mascara, called Voluminous Superstar. It is one of those mascaras with two ends – a white coat first to lengthen your lashes and then the actual mascara to go over the top. This was just what I was looking for as I’ve liked those kind ever since I bought the Maybelline XXL volume mascara. (See my review here from 2005)……
