jealousy of bloggers
An admission of jealousy of other bloggers
June 15, 2017
Have you ever noticed how it’s generally successful people who advise you not to compare yourself with others? I hear it a lot lately and it’s really annoying me! When I hear someone with a hundred and seventy thousand Instagram followers and a blog with an income good enough to support their family, spout quotes on their popular podcast such as “Comparison is the thief of joy”, do I think, Oh yes, that’s really good advice, thank you for that? No I do not. I swear out loud and stick two fingers up at my computer. I hesitated as to whether to share this horrible, ugly side of my personality here, but then I thought, Sod It, no-one’s reading this anyway(!)….
Slissie review
A chance to curb your cravings? A review of the Slissie
June 5, 2017
This is a new product, so I’ll begin by telling you what on earth a Slissie is! To be honest, it’s a bit difficult to explain, but it’s a weight-loss device that looks a little bit like a vape, and you suck on it like it is a vape, however there’s no actual vapour! Instead, it releases a burst of flavour into your mouth, and the idea is that it will trick your brain into thinking you’ve eaten something sweet, and therefore your cravings will be satisfied without actually having the calories of eating anything…..
3 days in New York
3rd and final day in New York + Review of The Wyndham New Yorker Hotel
May 22, 2017
Our third day was only just over half a day really as we had a train to catch late afternoon to take us to Washington DC. So as this is a shorter post, I thought I’d include a quick review of the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel and my overall opinion in visiting New York. There were no bus tours this day, but we took an Uber to see the Grand Central Station, and it really is not one to miss on your places to visit list! We ate breakfast in form of cookies in a cafe there called Zaro’s, and they were the most delicious cookie and chocolate chunk scone I’ve ever tasted in my life. Then we spent a while taking photographs….
Spring lookbook – Styling a pink ruffled jumper; a black skater dress, and Pretty punk inspiration
May 9, 2017
My Weekly Wardrobe is no more! Sadly I don’t have the time to keep up with as many posts as I used to be doing, so I’ve decided to make monthly look-books instead with all my recent outfits together. It means each post is going to be a bit longer – I hope you don’t mind! So this one goes right back to Mothering Sunday when I wore the above outfit for our walk around the Glastonbury Festival site. We also have a glittery ruffled pink jumper teamed with a a 1950’s style circle skirt and lastly a black skater dress with a cool neckline….
Review of the mitre restaurant in Oxford
A quick review of The Mitre restaurant in Oxford
April 19, 2017
My trip to Oxford was a year ago now, but I found this review in my notebook, so I thought I’d type it up as it could be useful to someone visiting Oxford. Just to fill you in, as part of my Christmas and birthday presents, I had a little two-night stay in a lovely hotel near the city, all by myself. It was heaven! Anyway, you can never go wrong with a Beefeater restaurant, so I tried the one on Oxford High Street called The Mitre….
Walking round Glastonbury Festival site
A walk around the Glastonbury Festival site – the story of the photographs
April 12, 2017
Considering Glastonbury Festival is a hop skip and a jump away from us in Pilton, I’m surprised we don’t go for a wander around the site more often. I’m guessing it’s the long uphill walk back to the villagers’ gate that puts us off! Anyway, on Mothering Sunday the rest of the family didn’t really have a choice in the matter, and as it was a bright sunshiny day, I thought I’d drag them off on a walk….

Styling a ruffled mini-skirt plus the value of a cardigan – Weekly Wardrobe
April 10, 2017
I’m pretty sure back in the day, we called them Ra-ra skirts, but to be honest, I was never fashionable enough to really know! Choosing an outfit that looks good, but is also suitable for climbing rocks is actually quite difficult and I’m not sure I entirely succeeded with this one, especially considering the wind! However I had thick enough wool leggings on for decency to not really be an issue, and sturdy enough boots to tackle the terrain so who cares about anything else really?…..
Dealing with the post
Adulting: A series of things I should’ve learned by now – Dealing with the post
April 9, 2017
This is my second blog post in my series about adulting. Just because I’m nearly forty; doesn’t mean I’m any good at it! This time I’m talking about the stuff that comes through the letter box. I dread it with a passion. Unless I’ve bought something from ebay, I am so happy when the post van drives on past! It’s not so bad if the post-person brings it round to the back porch, because that means there’s a parcel, which is quite exciting. However, apart from postcards from my parents, there really is nothing good about the letters that fall on the damp stone floor in our hallway. I’ll do everything in my power to pretend they’re not there….
A review of Comb Beck, a holiday cottage near Keswick in the Lake District; let by Sally’s Cottages
March 29, 2017
A little weekend break was planned as a surprise by Chris, but he knows how I like planning things, so he did actually tell me about it in advance and I helped find somewhere to stay. Sally’s Cottages seems to be the go-to agency if you’d like to book a holiday cottage in the Lake District and I was impressed with their easy-to-use website with plenty of options to tick included whether there’s wifi and if dogs are allowed – our major requirements. I liked the look of Comb Beck, along with its location, so we went ahead and booked it….
