The second Christmas special, shown on New Year’s Day 2005
Some people I know told me it was rubbish – “all about kids in Africa and stuff”. But I completely disagree. There couldn’t have been a better way to get across to thousands the dire situation in Africa and well done to Dawn French for being brave enough to do it. There was the right balance of alternative story-line and humour mixed in with the serious message. I was in floods of tears at the bit at the end and the least I’ll be doing now is wear a white arm band. I hope Tony Blair was watching too.
I also hope Geraldine finds love in a future Christmas special!
