What shall I get him for Valentine’s Day?

Men are so difficult to buy for aren’t they? I’ve been with my guy for twenty-five years now, and trying to think of something to buy him for Valentine’s Day doesn’t get any easier. I was pretty impressed with myself last year as I bought him a nickel skate-board (well, a cheaper version of the real thing anyway); I thought it was something a bit different and he’d mentioned he’d quite like one. This year, I’m a bit stumped. He doesn’t want any novelty or display items because he’s run out of places to put things like that in his study. So while I was looking around, I thought I’d share some of my favourite gift ideas that might help you out as well…..

This is a sweet little gift if you’re both weird and on a budget or you’ve said something silly like Let’s not get each other Valentine’s presents this year!

Budget Valentine gift

The bracelet, which really would suit men or women is from byMollyandIzzy. There are loads of wishing bracelets in their shop and another of my favourites is one that says, ‘Meh…okay, you’ll do‘!

It’s actually quite difficult to find a stylish men’s wash bag, so if you’re looking for a more practical gift – particularly if you’re going on holiday together this year, then he might like this Fred Perry wash bag.

This is from House of Fraser, who have actually got a really good section for Valentine’s present ideas. I like the retro, quite hipster styling, and if it’s too practical for a Valentine’s gift, you could always put something more romantic inside!

This is another one that’s more functional than your typical Valentine’s Day gift, but I thought it was actually a pretty good idea! A classic black umbrella.

It is perfect for this time of year and actually, with it’s traditional curved wooden handle and pointy bit, I think a gentleman who errs on the side of hipster would love it!

Jewellery is perhaps a more romantic gesture and with this bracelet you can add a cute personalised note on the magnetic steel clasp.

Personalised leather bracelet

The leather bracelet is made by UndertheroseUK. The little engraved note is subtle enough that a man afraid to show his emotions wouldn’t mind wearing it, and it’s stylish too!

This is one that I actually bought for Chris, so don’t tell him!

Funny Valentine’s gift

This hand-stamped keyring is from BeesHandStampedGifts. I’ve asked them to change ‘butt’ to ‘bum’. I know it’s not very British to say that I’ve got a nice bum, but Chris likes it and the keyring made me laugh. There are several cute little sayings if you’d like the idea but would like something different.

Lastly, this is one of my own items in my shop, WickedFaerieGifts.

Gift for a hipster

I’ve decorated the cover and used pyrography on wood to write ‘A Gentleman’s Journal.’ A perfect gift if your guy is hipster or likes his steampunk.

Of course, I have no idea what interests your husband/boyfriend/random guy you’re shagging is into, but hopefully this will give you some ideas!

Have you heard of the Baader–Meinhof phenomenon? Or perhaps you’ve heard it called ‘Frequency bias’? Have you ever looked around for your new car; chosen a make and model you’re interested in, and then all of a sudden you see it everywhere? It’s the car in front of you in the traffic jam, and then you walk past two more as you walk across the car park to the Tescos entrance. It seems like the universe knows you want that car, and decides to show it to you ALL the time…

Hi Kay, well there’s nothing wrong with giving him a subtle hint in the right direction, and what better way than putting it in a blog post!
There were several keyrings I liked from that shop too, but that one did make me laugh.
