Following on from my last post, it seemed the logical thing to have a little look into options as to what to wear over the top of the swimming costume.
I still haven’t worked out what to do when I grow up! I’m mainly a writer, an artist, and a fairytale dressmaker with various crafty hobbies! Festival Clothing

In the UK, Glastonbury Festival is the biggest music festival, and in my opinion, the best as well! I have been going for years and now I’m lucky enough to live practically on its doorstep. If you haven’t been, it’s difficult to explain quite how fantastic, or to imagine how big it actually is. There are 150,000 tickets sold, the site takes up 1,100 acres and I’ve just counted 58 stages on the line-up! There are the main music stages, the dance village, the late night weirdness places, the kids’ field, the circus and theatre fields, but it’s the Greenfields where you’ll find the traditional vibes of the 1960s and 70s, and also where you’ll find the best handmade clothes. I’ll definitely be checking those out when I’m there.

I’ve been wanting to watch Red Riding Hood for ages and I finally have this weekend. I loved it! It was everything I hoped it would be; the snowy village scenes, the mysterious atmosphere; Grandma’s fantastic cabin in the woods, but especially the costumes. Just a quick post to urge you to take a look at Tara’s blog, Crowd Capture. She’s kindly written a lovely article about how I use traditional Indian clothing and turn them into new dresses and outfits. She’s also a big fan of revamping clothes, so have a read-through and maybe you’ll be inspired to have a go!

At the weekend I took a big bundle of clothing I’d made along with Rain, who bravely modelled them for me in the chilly wind. Here’s a preview of a few of the new collection called Indian Summer, as they are predominantly made from Indian silks and chiffon. They will soon be for sale on my Etsy page. I LOVE e-bay! I know I should be concentrating on promoting the Pirate Collection for Oshun, but I couldn’t resist this bargain bundle of Indian clothing. They are all damaged in some way or another, but perfect for transforming into new beautiful clothes.

Tia Dalma
Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger Tides is coming out soon, so I’ve been busy making loads of clothes inspired by the film and pirates in general – perfect to wear to the cinema! Four years ago in June, my eldest daughter was invited to a fancy dress party to celebrate the end of their time at Primary School. She chose to go as Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Caribbean (cool kid) and I found a piece of old cotton that I think I bought from a jumble sale long ago that for some reason I’d cut from what was originally a dress. We tied it up with string and it formed the petticoat of her costume. Now it has become one of the main pieces of my adult Tia Dalma dress which is now for sale on Etsy.
