Have you seen either BBC series of Poldark? If not, it’s a romantic saga set in Cornwall in the late eighth to early nineteenth century and was based on the novels by Winston Graham. The original TV series was made in 1975, but when it was shown again in 1988; that’s when it captured my heart…
The story of Ross and Demelza, the relationships of their friends and the challenges with their enemies, with the backdrop of mining, politics and the stunning Cornish scenery; well, it’s no wonder it had such an impact. It has definitely contributed to my love of the county, and as I visit the filming locations, or even just places that are mentioned, I can vividly imagine how it would have been back then – the sights, sounds and smells! Is there a particular book or tv show that has had a big significance on your life?
These are a few of the many photos from our recent camper van trip to Cornwall. This is Treen, Botallack and Godolphin house – a Poldark filming location for Elizabeth and Francis Poldark’s house – and if you scroll down you’ll find the video where you can see the farmhouse that was used as Nampara – Ross and Demelza’s home.
